Dr. David Joseph Wrisley

Last offered: Fall 2013
Cross-listed Literature/Language MA seminar

ENGL 306K/346K is an MA seminar designed to introduce graduate students to a variety of expanding methodological practices in the digital humanities.  It will address the general fields of text mining, text encoding, networks and maps.  Students will be encouraged to bring content-specific interests and we will examine how such projects can embrace digital methodologies.  We will use existing open datasets as well as think through how to model meaningful data in the subject fields of interest to the class. Reflective writing and journaling will make up a significant part of the written work of this seminar.

There is no final paper in this course, but rather a course portfolio of smaller projects.
